Navarro apologizes for saying there's a 'special place in hell' for Trudeau
The president’s trade advisor Peter Navarro apologized on Tuesday for saying there was a “special place in hell” for Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
“That was my mistake. Those were my words,” Navarro said, according to the Dow Jones newswire. Navarro was speaking at a conference in Washington hosted by The Wall Street Journal.
“There’s a special place in hell for any foreign leader that engages in bad faith diplomacy with President Donald J. Trump and then tries to stab him in the back on the way out the door,” Navarro said on Fox News Sunday over the weekend.
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment from CNBC.
